St. Catherine’s Academy (SCA), an all boys’ Catholic school with a military tradition in Anaheim, CA, commemorated 125 years and held its Annual ‘March of the Toy Soldiers’ Silent Auction and Dinner fundraiser on November 15, 2014 from 6-10 pm. The event was held at the school’s social hall with nearly 200 alumni, school families, board members, and community friends in attendance. The event raised more than $30,000.00 which will benefit SCA’s financial assistance program.
The Silent Auction and Dinner, was chaired by dedicated volunteers Tina Brady, Natalie Janiec and Diane Steele. In addition, more than fifteen SCA volunteers, which included current and past parents, were part of the planning committee. Sister Johnellen, SCA’s Administrator and Principal opened the event with a prayer and welcome, followed by a heartfelt thanks to volunteers, supporters and donors who made the event possible.
More than 160 items were donated by local organizations. Attendees were able to place bids on both live and silent auction items. Items included: autographed sports memorabilia, vacation packages, restaurant gift cards, comedy show tickets, sporting event tickets, Rose Parade tickets, shopping gift cards to area retailers, amusement park gift certificates and many more amazing items. In addition, opportunity tickets were sold for prizes throughout the event. Attendees were served a delicious Italian dinner and desserts, prepared and served by SCA’s kitchen staff.
